Malanjkhand is situated in Balaghat district in states of Madhya Pradesh (M.P.).It is a central govt. project. It is the biggest open copper mines of Asia. Although Malanjkhand is small, but full of natural beauty; its in the heart of jungles.Even one can find Kanha National Park; a Tiger protection resort only 20 kms far from the beautiful small township.Malanjkhand is full of greenery and surrounded by villages.
To have a trip to Malanjkhand one has to undergo long bus journey; but don't get frustrated; all the time you will enjoy the nature surrounding you, lots of wildlife one can see during the course of journey. Tigers are the main attraction of the jungle; other than tigers; leopards, panthers, peacocks, elephants, monkey, dears, snakes, and many more wild animals and birds can be found in the jungles. One can see bathing elephants of Kanha in the river Banjar at Mukki.
In Malanjkhand we have a beautiful garden other then that one can consider it as a very religious place because of the presence of Mosque,Gurudwara, Churches and lots of temples at the same small place. It is a well planed township full of life.
In Malanjkhand one can see all kind of big machinery like Dozer,Dumpers,Cranes, and many other machines used for crushing stones, refining metal, Road-rollers etc.
In Malanjkhand we extract Copper(Cu) from the soil. The raw material is in the form of stones obtained through blasting the rocks; it is then crushed into small pieces then it is refined at some extend and then for further refinement it is sent to Khetari, one more CL project in Rajasthan. The waste material obtained during refining process is collected at tailing dam.Even of being a collection of waste material (sand); it is beautiful place to spend some time there. It seems like desert and somewhere like white salt desert of Rajasthan. Other than it a deep open copper mines is also there to view.
The people living there are very friendly and well educated one will like to have some time with them. The residents of Malanjkhand are almost from all parts of India; so any stranger never remain strange there, definitely he/she will find people from his/her region or state. All type of languages can be heard there.Often one can find children playing on the ground.
To visit Malanjkhand the near by railway station is Gondia in Maharashtra near to Nagpur other than that Jabalpur in M.P. and Raipur in Chattishgarh. Don't get surprised by hearing railway station of different states because Malanjkhand is situated at the border of three states i.e. Maharashtra; Madhya Pradesh and Chattishgarh.
Near by airport is at Nagpur, Jabalpur & Raipur . The most convenient way for Malanjkhand is to enter through Nagpur; from Nagpur one can easily find train and bus to Malanjkhad.
Direct buses are available from Raipur, Nagpur, Gondia & Balaghat to Malanjkhand.Rough idea of the maximum distance from all the above mentioned places is as follow:-
